Special issue (section) in a journal

Editor(s). (Eds.). (Year). Title of special issue [Special issue/ section]. Name of Journal, Volume(Issue), page range.

Basic rules (special issue)

Jun, S.-I. (Ed.). (2015). Korea-Japan relations from comparative perspective: 50 Years after normalization [Special issue].  Journal of Contemporary Korean Studies, 2(2), 9–133.

  1. start with the editor’s last name
  2. use a comma (" , ") and one space between the author's last name and the initial(s) (middle name initial is often omitted)
  3. add Ed. (for one editor) or Eds. (for more than one editor) in parentheses after the names of the editor(s)
  4. give the year of publication in parentheses and then use a full stop (" . ")  
  5. give the title of the special issue (not italicized!)
  6. add [Special issue] and then use a full stop
  7. give the title of the journal in which the issue appeared (in italics)
  8. capitalize each word of more than 4 letters in the journal title
  9. provide the volume number in italics
  10. give the issue number in parentheses (if applicable) followed by a comma, with no spaces between the volume and issue numbers
  11. indicate the page range for the special issue and then use a full stop.
If the issue has no editor(s), the issue title should take the place of the editor’s name.
